Looking at him, you wouldn’t know that Matthew Cade Pearson, 13, is sick. The baseball-loving teenager, an eighth grader at Kaufman Junior High School, also plays football and basketball. On and off campus, in the classroom and on the athletic field, he has the support of a loving family. But Cade, as everybody calls him, is dealing with something much more serious than winning the next game or keeping his grades up. He’s battling metastatic melanoma.
