Property tax consultant questions Forney power plant appraisal

Earlier this year, the Forney Messenger published a story regarding the sale of Forney’s power plant in February, 2016. In the wake of the sale, a licensed property tax consultant is questioning the way the Kaufman County Tax Office has assessed the Forney power plant.  The power plant was recently sold to Luminant, an affiliate of Dallas-based Energy Future Holdings, which has purchased the Forney power plant from NextEra Energy Resources LLC by buying NextEra’s La Frontera portfolio, which also incudes Lamar, Texas generating assets.
