Lopez replaces Grooms on NTMWD Water Board

In a vote taken during Tuesday night’s City Council meeting, the City Council replaced Darrell Grooms, Forney’s representative on the North Texas Municipal Water District Board of Directors, with Mike Lopez. The action was taken under the seventh and final action item on Tuesday night’s agenda. There was little discussion before Mayor Rick Wilson called for a vote to make an appointment, which must be made annually. City Secretary Dorothy Brooks announced that that as the incumbent, Darrell Grooms was the only person to have applied for appointment. In response, City Council member Robbie Powers moved to re-appoint Grooms, with Council member David Johnson seconding. The motion failed by a 4-3 vote, with Mayor Wilson and Council members Ray Stephens, Cory McGee, and Scott Regan voting “no” and Powers, Penn and Johnson voting “yes”.
