William David “Papa” Grooms was the son of William Milo Grooms and Essie Lea Crews Grooms. He was born on February 9, 1940 in Alton, MO and went to be with our Lord on January 12, 2014 at the age of 73. He was married to Elvree Ilene “Nanny” Grooms on January 11, 1958, and they were able to celebrate 56 years together. Together they raised three children - Jana Grooms Weaver, David Manual Grooms and William Darrell Grooms. Papa was dedicated to his family. He was a strong man with a kind spirit and a generous heart. He was always willing to help anyone in need. He worked hard to provide for his family as a mechanic before retiring from the Texas Department of Transportation in 2007. He is survived by his wife, Nanny Grooms of Dallas, Texas; daughter, Jana Weaver and her husband Billy of Canton, Texas; son, David Grooms and his wife Darlene of Seagoville, Texas; and son, Darrell Grooms and his wife Cheri of Forney, Texas. Five Grandchildren, Billy Joe Weaver and his wife Brittni of Garland, Texas; Cassie Grooms of Seagoville, Texas; Ashley Grooms of Seagoville, Texas; Will Grooms of Forney, Texas; and David Lee Jones and his wife Aunie of Marshall, Obituaries Texas. Four Great Grandchildren, Hailey Gonzalez and David Henson of Seagoville, Texas; Grayson Weaver of Garland, Texas; and Tucker Jones of Marshall, Texas. He is sur vived by his brother Jerr y Grooms of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Jean Utley and Thelma Lea Lewallen; and brother, J.E. Grooms. There are countless others that called him Papa and loved him as their own father or grandfather. He made a difference in so many lives and will be dearly missed. Service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Roselawn Funeral Home, 1000 Highway 175, Seagoville, Texas 75159.
