Marie Crenshaw
Marie Crenshaw, longtime resident of Forney, passed away on the morning of July 8, 2015 surrounded by family. Marie was born Oct. 27, 1918 in Nevada, TX to Jim and May Gay both of whom greeted her in Heaven along with her beloved husband, John H. Crenshaw, Jr., granddaughter, Sher yl Crenshaw, great grandson, John Kelley Burger, siblings: Moselle Patterson, James and Hubert Gay and sonin- law, Hugh Seagraves. Marie was a true Proverbs 31 woman and her servant’s heart for not only her family but for all others was a true hallmark of her personality. She married the love of her life, John, on April 7, 1939. They started life on the farm and their own family shortly thereafter. During their lives, she was a steadfast supporter of his early farming endeavors and worked at J. C. Penney while he was opening his own real estate business which thrived due to both her and Mr. Crenshaw’s work ethic. Even while heavily involved with assisting her husband, Marie stayed active in her church serving in many activities such as Sunday School teacher, helping with communion and many other leadership positions. She was also very involved, Obituaries along with Mr. Crenshaw, in the Order of the Eastern Star having held several chapter positions as well as District and State. In her free time, she enjoyed square dancing, bowling and traveling with her favorite destination being Israel where she traveled to three times. Recently, Marie kept active and maintained old and new friendships with her attendance at the Layden Senior Citizens club in Forney where she enjoyed many happy times and made many happy memories. Her smile is a treasured memory by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed. Marie leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Gloria Seagraves of Searcey, Ark; son, Wes Crenshaw and wife, Patsy, of Forney; grandchildren: Darrell Burger, Gregory Burger and wife, Tonna, Johnny Burger, JimmyBurger, Shelley Hamilton and husband, Mike, Stephanie Jones and husband, Will; 19 great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren, extended family and a host of friends. Funeral service will be at 10am, Saturday, July 11, 2015 at First United Methodist Church, 414 W. Broad St., Forney with interment to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8pm, Friday, July 10, at First United Methodist Church. Condolences may be given to www.andersonclaytonterrell.com.
