Margie Hickson Luttrell

Margie Hickson Luttrell, of Forney, passed away Feb. 20, 2015 surrounded by her beloved nieces and nephews. Margie was born Sept. 13, 1928 in Forney to Charley and Lucy (Hood) Hickson both of whom preceded in death along with her husband, James Luttrell, and sisters and brothers-in-law: Evelyn and Owen Reeder and Louise and Dub Reeder. Margie was born on the Cates Ranch in Forney and was a lifetime resident in a city she loved with friends she adored. She worked for 35 years at Farmer’s National Bank until her retirement and she was also a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Forney where she was involved with many activities including United Methodist Women. Margie was also a part of the Order of the Eastern Star where she showed a willingness to always help with any OES activities. The classic “people person”, she loved to meet and talk to and visit with any one she came across. Her personality made her irresistible and if you didn’t call her friend yet, you sure did after meeting her just one time. She loved family time and she looked forward to Christmas season when she could be at all her family’s houses and spend precious hours visiting and remembering. Margie also loved to eat out, especially at Red Lobster and Applebee’s, but , without fail, every Friday was well known to be reserved to go to the Senior Citizens’ Group as well as for her beauty appointments for hair and nails (including pedicures!). Her love for people gave her the character which enabled her to be a ‘social butterfly’ in always graciously asking after others’ loved ones and remembering small details which made everyone feel truly special. Margie delighted in every opportunity to just sit and visit with anyone and everyone and her smile and wonderful personality will be treasured by all who knew her. She leaves to cherish her memory her numerous nieces and nephews who took spectacular care of her. They, and each of their spouses, were devoted to “Aunt Margie” and together they will celebrate the legacy she leaves to each of them. Funeral service will be at 10:00am, Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015 at First United Methodist Church in Forney with interment to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00am to service time. In honor of her family’s history and legacy at Hillcrest Cemetery, memorials may be made to Hillcrest Cemetery, PO Box 1033, Forney, TX 75126.
