Sometimes you find jewels in unlikely places

I had been to the Lectureship at Harding University where all three of my kids attended college. I planned to attend the one at Oklahoma Christian University this week. That meant I had several days in between so I decided to visit churches around Tulsa, Oklahoma along the way. So last Wednesday I drove straight from Searcy, Arkansas to the Crosstown Church of Christ near downtown Tulsa. It was a bit of a homecoming because in December of 2007, I was sent by the American Red Cross to Tulsa to run shelters during a bad ice storm. The last shelter I managed was at the Crosstown Church and last week was the first time I had been back. I would have gone back sooner; however, when I first started in my current job, I had twelve states including Texas and everything west. We recently hired a preacher from Wenatchee, Washington and in the realignment I traded eight western states for Oklahoma.
