Three Rights Make a Left

I MARRIED MY BEST FRIEND

By KEN LEONARD

It has been two years since Lori retired from the Federal Government. But that doesn’t mean she has stopped working. I was always proud of what she had achieved. As many of you know, she worked for the IRS. She started as a Revenue Agent; then, when President Jimmy Carter imposed a “Windfall Profits Tax” on oil, Lori was put on that program and was literally the agent who closed the program. Even after she had moved on she would still have to put whatever she was doing on hold to take care of lingering issues that popped up concerning oil. She became a specialist in the airline industry along with a man who would be a friend to both of us. His name was David Lumbraras.

David had been a Marine sniper in Vietnam before he worked for the IRS. Lori traveled a lot with him and another agent named Max and often an attorney that was assigned to their group, and whenever we could, the kids and I would tag along. Whenever I couldn’t go I always felt a lot safer that wherever Lori was in the country she was safe as long as David was around.
