Laymen’s Corner
by WILLIE HOLT
On the seventh day GOD rested from His work of creating the heaven and earth and blessed the seventh day and made it holy. The seventh day of the week was called the Sabbath day by the Jews until Jesus came and formed the church. After that the “first” day of the week, (Sunday) was called the “Lord’s day” and Christians celebrate that day by going to church and worshiping GOD who saved us. Even today among the Jews, Saturday is still the Sabbath to them. GOD had created Adam to rule over His creation. He gave Adam a home by planting a garden called Eden where Adam was to live and keep the garden tilled while he lived there.
