At this time of year, Santa Claus can be seen in malls everywhere. We all believe in him in one way or another, because Santa represents the spirit of Christmas. He crosses religious and cultural lines. He’s inescapable. Santa Claus is our cultural extension of a bishop of the early fourth century—Nicholas, Bishop of Myra, capital of Lycia, a province in Asia Minor.
