Patsy Jean Koonce, 61, of Forney, Texas, was constantly smiling and goofing around. She loved watching her grandkids’ sporting events - basketball, football and baseball, fishing with her family and watering her plants. Patsy was a fantastic cook, and her food was loved by many. She loved anything and everything outside. Pat was the most caring, unselfish person who would do anything for anyone, and she never met a stranger. Most people met her when she worked at the local grocery store Brookshire’s for 15 years. She did so much for the community, helped out with the Lion’s Club during the food bank. She loved to see how many things she could do just to help out others. Pat passed away Monday morning, April 28, 2014 in her home in Forney, Texas after battling cancer for two years. Pat was so kind-hearted, and her smile was contagious. Pat was born March 14, 1953 in Lubbock, TX. She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years Ronnie Koonce; son Manuel Gutierrez and daughters Michelle Koonce and Amberly Herbertson and husband Zach of Forney, Texas. Pat had four grandchildren that she loved with everything she had, and her world revolved around them: Corby Filice, Tristan Gutierrez, Jaxson and Kaylee Herbertson. Patsy was preceded in death by her father Willie and mother Jean Ward, sister Lois Dunn and brother Vernon Lee Ward. A funeral for Pat will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Fellowship Baptist Church in Forney.
