GOD had told Abram to leave his family and go into a land He would show him, so Abram gathered up his household and his nephew Lot’s household and started out to where GOD directed him. GOD spoke to Abram and said, I WILL MAKE OF THEE A GREAT NATION, (Israel) AND I WILL BLESS THEE AND MAKE THY NAME GREAT, AND YOU WILL BE A BLESSING. I WILL BLESS THEM THAT BLESS THEE AND CURSE THEM THAT CURSE THEE, AND THROUGH THEE ALL THE NATIONS OF THE EARTH SHALL BE BLESSED (paraphrased). Abram and Lot his nephew entered the land of Canaan and traveled to the plain of Moreh where GOD appeared to him and said, UNTO THY SEED I WILL GIVE THIS LAND. So Abram built an altar to the Lord there.
