A&M professor tells fascinating story

Now retired, he fought Soviet oppression as a 22-year-old

Joseph Nagyvary was a 22-year-old college student when a revolution against Soviet oppression broke out in his native Hungary on Oct, 23, 1956. Reluctantly, he took up arms against the Russians and for the next 10 days he didn’t know if he’d survive the day or not. At one point, he and a friend were caputured by Communist security police, who warned them that they would be shot immediately if any weapons were found in their college dorm. Nagyvary managed to escape both the police and the Communist government and made his way to Switzerland and eevntually to A&M. Read more in this coming  weei’s Forney Messenger.
