HOPPIN’ AROUND

One of the more memorable movies I have in my home video library is Lost Horizon, a movie made in the late 1930s from a novel and directed by Frank Capra. In the film, a group of British and American citizens fleeing a war zone in what is now Packistan find their airplane hijacked by a mysterious Oriental and diverted to an uncharted part of Tibet. After the plane runs out of fuel and comes in for a crash landing, the passengers are led to a lamasery called Shangri-la, where they discover, by degrees, a virtual paradise.
