City recognizes local student

At last week’s City Council meeting, Mayor Rick Wilson recognize Jaycee Bissell, a fifth grader at Johnson Elementary School, for collecting shoes for the needy instead of buying birthday gifts for herself. Jaycee and her friends collected more than 342 pairs of shoes and donated them to the Forney Food Pantry, the Buckner Orphanage, and The Bridge Homeless Recovery Center in Dallas. Mayor Wilson recognized her for “making our small community great and tor her “unselfishness and caring for the less fortunate.”
