GOING THROUGH THE BIBLE Genesis Chapters 27 and 28

By WILLIE HOLT

Studying the lives and callings of Abraham, Isaac and Ishmael, and Jacob and Esau, gives us a little insight into GOD’S plan for the redemption of mankind. None of these men were perfect, but GOD had his own reason for using them to complete His plan. The message for us here is “they believed GOD” and it was counted for righteousness. If we think for a minute, when a person hears the gospel in church and is convicted of their sin, walking the aisle is not a ritual, it is because they believed the message which is the same as believing GOD and it is counted for righteousness. Those are the ones GOD chose to be His own.

Let’s go back to Genesis. Jacob had taken Esau’s birthright with a bowl of soup and a piece of bread. Later he stole Esau’s blessing when Isaac was old and blind. At that time a father’s blessing was binding and sure which GOD honored. Esau intended to kill Jacob but Isaac sent him away to the home of Laban, Rebekah’s brother. There, Jacob ended up spoiling Laban’s estate and taking most of his herd of animals. These scriptures tell us plain that GOD chooses whomever He wants to carry out His will and plan.
