Abraham took another wife after the death of Sarah. He had several sons by her but when he came near to his death he gave gifts to them and sent them away from Isaac, who was given the entire estate. Isaac was the child of promise given to Abraham when Sarah was too old to have children. Ishmael was born by human strength. The blood line of Ishmael was human (worldly) and Isaac’s blood line was spiritual. Later Isaac and Rebekah had twin sons which struggled in her womb. She inquired of the Lord why that was happening to her. Here is what GOD told her.

“TWO NATIONS ARE IN YOUR WOMB, AND TWO PEOPLES FROM WITHIN YOU SHALL BE DIVIDED. THE ONE SHALL BE STRONGER THAN THE OTHER AND THE OLDER SHALL SERVE THE YOUNGER.”
