Your property’s safety: Forney police are there for you

By Cary

I offered a column in a light-hearted vein last week, but now it’s time to get serious once again. In the next few minutes, I’m going to write what you should be doing to keep your property safe during the approaching Christmas/ New Year holiday period. Statistically, thefts go up during the Christmas season. Thieves know that families are accumulating items of considerable worth in the weeks leading up to Christmas—items that can be sold or fenced for a good portion of their original value. Potentially, every home is a target. Locking your home when you’re away affords only limited protection, because a good burglar can easily bypass the main door to get in—or he may simply kick or ram the door in, as one did at our home a few years ago. Even setting an alarm isn’t always a deterrent.
