On Monday, classes started in Forney’s public schools and in public schools across Texas. But Aug. 22 was a special date for Judy and me, too. It marked our 46th wedding anniversary. On Aug. 22, 1970, Judy and I were married at First Baptist Church in Rockwall. The minister was the late M. L. Jones, who had been Judy’s pastor since she was a girl. We were the last couple to be married in the old First Baptist Church sanctuary in Rockwall. The very next week, services began in a new church building on SH 205 that is still being used. Our wedding day was a hot and sticky one.
