FORNEY, TX—On June 24, the City of Forney submitted a Notice of Establishment to the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) in regards to the Downtown Quiet Zone, which was to be in effect on August 8. Upon inspection of the Quiet Zone, Union Pacific  Railroad (UP) identified potential safety concerns. As per federal regulations regarding the establishment of a Quiet Zone, outlined by the FRA, the Quiet Zone will not be enacted until the safety concerns are addressed and approved by UP and the FRA. Once the  safety concerns are met, the City will send an updated Notice of Establishment.
