Mayme Dell Lindsey Tune

November 29, 1918 - May 6, 2015 Mayme Dell Lindsey Tune, 96, passed away May 6, 2015. She was born November 29, 1918, at the Lindsey family homeplace on Weaver Street in Forney, Texas to Charlie D. Lindsey and Susie Ward Lindsey, both of whom preceded her in death. Also, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, James Tune and by her sisters, Georgia Faye Carpenter and Virginia
Creecy. Mayme attended Forney Schools and graduated from Forney High School in 1935. In 1939, she married James Tune in the Methodist parsonage beside the old Methodist Church on the corner of Church and Austin Streets. Mayme helped her father in his later years by driving his Model A to help deliver mail on his rural mail route. Although she was employed most of her working years  (approximately 40 years) at the Farmers National Bank (now City Bank), she also had other work experiences. She sold movie tickets at the Starr Theater in Forney where her husband was the projectionist,
worked at Sears, Titche-Geottinger, and for Clint Chapman, the city secretary. Mayme was in attendance at the Methodist Church since infancy and joined the church in 1925. At the time of her death, she had the longest church membership. She was the church organist for 40 years, a member of the United Methodist Women, Forney Heritage Society, and a member emeritus of the Forney Cemetery Committee. Mayme enjoyed camping/fishing trips with her husband James, and group tours in the U.S. and Canada. She enjoyed cleaning, sewing, and baking. Since 2011, she lived at Jordan Covenant Care in Forney where she was lovingly cared for and enjoyed her remaining years. She is survived by her daughter, Janice Tune Criswell (husband Sam); Grandchildren, Sammy Criswell (wife Sara), Samantha
Criswell, and Great Granddaughter, Shelby Criswell. The funeral service was held on May 11, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Forney. Officiant was Rev. Chris Allen and musician was Melissa
McElhannon. Words of Remembrance were given by Don Themer and Rev. Arville McLain. Interment was in Hillcrest Cemetery in Forney.
