Henry Wallace

Henry Wallace, lifelong Terrell resident, passed away January 11, 2015 surrounded by his family and friends. Henry was born November 12, 1941 in Terrell to Matthew Alexander and Helen Johnson Wallace. Both of whom preceded him in death along with his brothers, Matthew (June) and and Edgar Wallace. He graduated Terrell High School in 1958 and later married the love of his life Carol Wortham in 1964. Henry was always the “go to” friend for everyone. Anytime someone needed something, whether it was help getting a crop in or building something functional and useful or just getting advice, Henry was always the first person people thought of and went to. A man with many interests, talents and abilities starting with farming, as well as building a deer blind to designing and building a cooker (and his own home designed on a paper towel!) or any other item that needed ‘improving’ , Henry was known to all as THE person to consult. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisher as well as a longtime member of the NRA. Henry had a way of making everything he did look easy and his dedication to his family and friends made everyone admire him. Humble to a fault, he would’ve never been the man to announce his own accomplishments and he leaves behind the legacy of his love and generosity which speaks volumes about the man Henry was and the type of person we all strive to be. Obituaries Surviving him are his beloved wife of over 50 years, Carol Wallace of Terrell; cherished daughters: Michelle Gilbert and her husband Paul of Mesquite, Ann Marie Brown and her husband Jason of Terrell; grandchildren: Whitney Vaughn and fiancé Josh Vicars, Reed Gilbert and Taylor Gilbert; great granddaughter, Peyton Vicars; sisters: Mattie Baker and Mary Garvin; brother, Bill Wallace as well as many other relatives and a host of loyal friends whom he loved dearly including Carl Eudy, Ronnie Staten, Dickie Kyser, Mark Phillips, Dr. Joe Parrish J.R. Witt, Max Slayton and Doug Lowder. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Anderson- Clayton Bros. Funeral chapel with the family receiving Henry’s many friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13, at the funeral home. Family has asked in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Foundation at www.npcf.us/donate/. Condolences and stories may be shared with Henry’s family at www.andersonclaytonterrell.com.
