Gladys Antoinette Yates

Gladys Antoinette Yates passed away January 21, 2014. She was born in Forney, TX to William H. and Myrtle E. Yates on February 19, 1921. After graduating from Forney High School, she attended Texas Women’s University and studied music education, attaining her B.S. and B.A. degrees in 1943. She taught for awhile; however, she had a successful career of 35 years at the Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, TX where she worked in Public Relations until her retirement in February, 1986. In November of 2000, she made her home at Presbyterian Village North in Dallas where she resided until the time of her death. She was preceded in death by her parents, half-sister, Catherine Payne of New York, and half nephew, Dr. Philip M. Payne, II, of Melrose, Florida. She is survived by a half sister-in-law, Ann Payne and many nephews and nieces. The family wishes to express a special thanks to “Georgia” (Barbara) Harris and Josephine Johnson (JoJo) who were Miss Yates’ aides at PVN. Special thanks to the caregivers at PVN of Dallas and her long term caregiver and friend, Susan Barnes, of Dallas for their devotion. Memorial contributions may be made to the Presbyterian Village North Foundation for the Caring Fund. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Forney, TX.
