Beulah Gabro Pinson

Beulah Gabro Pinson passed away peacefully Friday, December 5 in Forney, TX. Beulah was born January 29, 1927, to Leon and Mae Gabro in Leesville, LA. She graduated from LSU and taught business and accounting courses at Leesville High School, and some classes in continuing education for the soldiers at Ft. Polk. She mar ried Hugh Gardner, a banker in the Lakewood area of Dallas, and was widowed in 1973. Beulah married James W. Pinson, Jr. of Forney, TX, on April 5, 1974. She quickly and enthusiastically transitioned from the Dallas banking scene to farming, helping Jim in the fields and working in the Forney Cotton Gin office while maintaining their home and preparing gourmet meals. During their marriage she also served on the Forney Lake Water Supply Board for 25 years, was an active and longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Forney, and worked briefly in Dr. Christine Walker’s clinic on Bois d’Arc Street. Thr oughout many years, Beulah also cared tirelessly for “Aunt Katie” (Katie Jackson) and “Mother P” (Mrs. Sandy Pinson) of Forney. She acted as nurse, advocate, and caregiver for her husband, Jim, in his long bout with cancer and emphysema. She was at best when helping others, and a wonderful example of love and generosity to stepchildren and grandchildren. Beulah is survived by brothers Leon Gabro, Jr. of Houston and Albert Gabro of Leesville, nieces Lisa Higgs and Gayla Miller; nephews Gar y Gabro and Mark Gabro; stepchildren Sue Pinson Norwood, James W Pinson, III (Dick), and Dan W Pinson, plus numerous great nieces and nephews and eight grandchildren. The family desires to express their sincere gratitude to Beulah’s longtime, sweet friend Carolyn McLain. They shared over 20 years of joys, sorrows, health challenges, laughter, and love. Carolyn continued to be loyal and true to Beulah throughout Beulah’s illness and was present to the end. Our appreciation is also extended to the staff and friends at Three Forks Senior Living of Forney, who tended, laughed with, and cared for Beulah her last year of life. Beulah requested that her body be donated to Southwestern Medical School, a final act of giving. A Memorial Service is planned to honor her life Thursday, December 11, at the First United Methodist Church of Forney. Beulah would be the first to suggest a donation to her church in lieu of flowers.
