Occasionally I get a client who resides in the autism spectrum. It’s always challenging and instructive. I believe autism is much more common than we ever thought. The reason we diagnose it more is because we’re looking for it and studying it. And publishing those studies.* Having autism is truly living in an alternate universe. I teeter along the line myself and, given different circumstances, I might very well have decided to move inside my own head permanently. But I didn’t. There were just too many things I wanted to do in the “real” world.
