As readers might expect, the first issue of 2013, dated January 3, was one of looking back at the previous year. The front page featured the beginning of the Messenger’s 2012 week-by-week summary of front page news, but for the first time, there were selected photos from the previous year as well. The year-end summary of top news stories and photos continued throughout the January 3 issue.
