First-ever Forney BBQ Cookoff and Festival produces slate of top barbecue dishes, sides

On Friday and Saturday, June 3 and June 4, the City of Forney and the Forney Parks and Recreation Department put on Forney’s first-ever Barbecue Cookoff and Festival. It took place in Forney Community Park. The two-day event drew barbecue cooks from Forney and the surrounding area, many of them from businesses that specialize in the food choice that is the favorite of many Texans. Barbecue chefs’ trailers and grills were spread all over Forney Community Park’s soccer complex as they vied for recognition and cash prizes.
