Hunting oil and dodging deer

A week or so ago I got an unusual request from my boss at Churches Of Christ Disaster Relief in Nashville. As I have told you, our Executive Director, Joe Dudney died a few months ago at 91 and our office staff finally got around to cleaning out his desk. Our new EX DIR , Mike Lewis, told me he had found a letter from an oil company in Abilene, Texas, trying to buy mineral rights for 466 acres in Tom Green County (San Angelo). Nobody in the office had any idea we had mineral interests in Texas so Mike asked me to check it out. I told him I was in South Texas and my last place to preach was Kingsville and I would head to San Angelo from there. After all ,it was right on the way home to Forney, right?
