Before Oct. 23, 2015, Judy and I paid only casual attention to issues and problems many handicapped people have to face every day. Although we both qualify for handicapped hangers for our cars, our physical problems were relatively minor until 2015. Then, in early 2015, I was diagnosed with two separate but equally severe corneal infections that led to a decline in my vision that was so bad I had to stop driving. And on that fateful night of Oct. 23, Judy fell in a freak accident in which she broke her hip. That led to three surgeries and months of rehab.
