Ronald Dee Montgomery

July 30, 1945 – January 6, 2017

My sweet husband, friend and soulmate passed away peacefully on Friday, January 6, 2017. He was the love of my life and we enjoyed 13 years as Mr. and Mrs. Ron and Darlene Montgomery. In 2011 after he was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer – carcinoid syndrome – for which there was no chemo or special medicine to make him better, he made the decision to donate his body to the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center for medical research. For anybody who knew him, you know that he was always giving to others and in his final act of giving, his hope is that research will find something that can be useful to help others diagnosed with this disease.

Ron was born and raised in Forney and was a 1963 graduate of Forney High School. He was a firefighter with University Park for Obituaries many years before moving to Waco where he was an aircraft firefighter with Raytheon/L3. He was a decorated veteran of the Viet Nam conflict.

After moving to Greenville in 2007 Ron established City Wide Window Cleaning Service and grew that into a very successful business.

Per his request, there will be no public memorial service. After research, there will be a private family burial in the DFW National Cemetery in Arlington, Texas.

His request was that donations in his memory be made to VITAS Healthcare, the Hospice Program who took care of him for the past 6 weeks. The website to make a donation is https://www.vitas.com/community-connection/donation-form Drop down choice Under the Dallas program (Dallas has Greenville). The physical address to send donations is Vitas Community Connection 8585 N Stemmons FWY, STE 200, South Tower, Dallas, TX 75247. All donations go 100% back to families in need in the Greenville area.

Remember him for whoever he was to you, the great stories he told and the good times you had with him. He was one of a kind and will be missed by all.

Rest in peace my love.
