Melvin C. Brown, Jr.

Melvin C. Brown, Jr., age 65 of Rockwall, TX, and previously of Forney, TX, passed away February 7, 2015 in Rowlett, TX. He was born April 11, 1949 in Dallas, TX, to Melvin, Sr. & Wanda Kuykendall. Melvin proudly ser ved his countr y during the Vietnam Era in the United States Navy. He owned his own independent insurance agency after retiring from Farmers Insurance where he worked for many years, receiving numerous awards. Melvin was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, gardening and woodworking, as well as music and traveling. He was very patriotic, family oriented and adored his grandchildren. Melvin was a former member of the Forney Lions Club and Kiwanis Club, where he was very involved. He was affiliated with Lake Pointe Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years: Rhonda Brown of Rockwall, TX; daughters: Mandee Brown & fiancé Paul Whitman, Jr. of Richardson, TX, and Miranda Hyvl & husband Bruce of Heath, TX; grandchildren: Colton Rodgers, Braxton Rodgers, Jacob Hyvl, Rachel Hyvl, Savannah Stamps, Jett Stamps and Trinity Hyvl; sister: Barbara Walker & husband Ron of Seagoville, TX; and countless friends and relatives. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. A memorial service will be held 10:00am, Monday, February 16, 2015 at Lake Pointe Church Chapel, 701 E. I-30, Rockwall, TX 75087.
