James “Jamie” Dwight Barkham Jr. was born December 30,1959 and went to be with the Lord unexpectedly November 28, 2016. A devoted husband, he had a deep and uncompromising love for his family and friends. Jamie is survived by his wife of 32 years, Laurie. Two sons, Brent and wife Keely and Jacob and wife Kaci. Grandchildren, Bailey, Landry, Seann, Graci and granddaughter to be, Jamie Lea. Mother, Ninva Barkham and sisters, Cindy Borg and husband Kevin, and Laurie Sobocinski and husband David and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in Death by his father, James Dwight Barkham, Sr. and sister, Jeanine Barkham. Jamie grew up in Dallas and graduated in 1978 from Skyline High School. He was employed at Steakley Chevrolet for 20 years and Southwest Airlines for 18 years. He joined the Forney Volunteer Fire Dept in January 1987 and served almost 30 years with a majority being in leadership positions and most recently as the department’s Assistant Chief. His fire legacy will continue through his son’s Brent and Jacob, who both serve for Desoto Fire Department and his daughterin- law, Kaci, who serves for Forney Fire Department. Throughout his years of ser vice, Jamie received several awards. The most recent were the Life Saving Award and a CareFlite recognition letter for an incident in 2015 from the Forney Fire Department. He had a great life well lived and will be dearly missed. Service was held Friday December 2, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Forney. Interment was in Hillcrest Cemetery, Forney, TX.
