HOPPIN’ AROUND

One of my childhood memories is of my mom’s strident voice as I was coming out of sleep the first day of school in about my second-grade year and my sister’s first-grade year. “C’mon, kids! It’s about that time! Out of bed!” Sleepily we tumbled from our beds, unable to quite believe that we were really back in that 7:00 a. m. “school routine”. Summer had conditioned us to get up when we felt like it.
