Kaufman County burn ban lifted; residents must still be cautious

The burn ban for Kaufman County was removed at 09:00 a. m. October 13, 2014. Considerations for the removal of the ban was the recent significant rainfall, and the drought index figures provided by the Texas A&M Forest Service. Today’s drought index number for Kaufman County is 354 (“0” being no drought and “800” being extreme total drought). The 14 day predicted drought index number for Kaufman County is 410, but can vary with weather changes.
