Commissioners Court holds Feb. 20 workshop

Special Correspondent to the Forney Messenger On Friday morning, Feb, 20, 2015, the Kaufman County Commissioners’ Court held a workshop covering various topics. County Judge Bruce Wood called the meeting to order at 9:00 a. m. and asked Precinct 4 Commissioner Jackie Allen to lead the opening prayer. The first item on the agenda was information and training on the legal process of declaring county roads and adding them to the official road map list. Kaufman County District Attorney Erleigh Wiley led the training with the aid of Assistant District Attorneys Rebecca Lundberg and John Long. District Attorney Wiley informed the group that Kaufman County is responsible for over 490 centerline miles of roadway. She reminded the Commissioners of the authority the law allows them when declaring county roads as well as the limitations of each individual commissioner in this process.
