City receives Pinson Farm sale proposal

By CARY GRIFFIN

Leon Harp, current owner of the 16.26-acre Pinson Farm property, has offered a proposal to the City of Forney for the city’s purchase of the property, the Forney Messenger learned last week.

The property fronts along the eastern edge of FM 740 North between the Pinson Road bridge and FM 740’s intersection with Ridgecrest Road.

Mr. Harp and the late Sara Pinson Harp co-owned the property up until Sara’s death. The property, which represents what’s left of the original Pinson Farm that was founded in 1878, contains the original Pinson farm house, which was built in the 1920s, along with a log cabin hay barn, which Mr. Pinson believes is the only barn of its kind left in Kaufman County.
