Three Rights Make a Left

by KEN LEONARD

The bluebonnets and indian paint brushes are in bloom, the rain gauge and Lake Lavon is full, and acouple of dear friends are  barely speaking to me because of names on political signs in my yard. It must be springtime in Forney. Stay calm, it’s just an election. You don’t have to go to Defcon 3 or Level Orange just because there will be a new mayor. Both candidates are friends and I hate to have to decide between the two of them. In this column I certainly won’t endorse either, but I will say either Mary Penn and Rick Wilson could make a terrific mayor. I most assuredly hope so. I say they “could” make a good mayor, because long experience in government has taught me that you really don’t know a person until you give them some power. But I think both Rick and Mary know what it is to lead, Rick as a successful businessman and Mary with her time on the council.
