Men should be protectors

This year we have been inundated with examples of how terribly human beings can treat each other. In the past couple of days it has been particularly disturbing to see the elevator camera video of Ray Rice punching his fiancé, knocking her out and dragging her out of the elevator. As a man it makes my blood boil to watch. At the risk of sounding old fashioned and chivalrous, I believe men are entrusted with the protection of the women they love, and I believe that a man who would hit a woman is less than a man.
