Three Rights Make a Left

OUR SUPREME COURT ADVENTURE

By KEN LEONARD

I have to admit I have always been a political junkie. I have worked on political campaigns since I was in high school when I campaigned for Paul Eggers for Texas Governor. In college at Abilene Christian College I served on the Taylor County Committee to Elect President Gerald Ford. I even got to meet him.

Later I became a high school Government teacher and loved it. Right now we are going through one of the most important events that occur and that is the appointment of a Supreme Court Justice. In this case it is the confirmation hearing of Judge Neil Gorsuch. If he is confirmed he will replace one of my favorite Justices, The Honorable Antonin Scalia. In everything I have heard and read, Judge Gorsuch is likely to be very similar to Justice Scalia in his view that the court is supposed to interpret law within the framework of the Constitution. I am watching as much as I can on TV and listening on the radio to the hearings.
