A look back —a LONG look back
October 15 was my birthday, and it marked the beginning of my eighth decade of life. That sounds bad, but, honestly, it really isn’t. I turned 71 Wednesday— and I still feel like I’m 30! October 15 is also the 42nd anniversary of the day Judy and I officially became owners of the Messenger, back in 1972. A look through our first issue as the publsihers, with a cover date of Oct. 19, 1972, shows that most of the advertisers on the pages of that issue are no longer around. They included:
