Steven “Lynn” Smith, II

Steven “Lynn” Smith, II of Garland passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 in Plano. Lynn, 43, was born January 3, 1971 in Dallas and was raised in Forney. He was the eldest son of Steve and LaJuana Smith and brother of Caleb Smith and wife Laura. He was always there as a loving father and friend to his children, Steven, Lainey, and Stephanie Smith, along with Courtney and Codie Homer. Lynn is preceded in death by Johnnie “Papa” Liles and Ollie “Memaw” Smith. He lit up a room with his smile and sense of humor. Lynn was a star athlete at Forney High School, better known as #24, the Stallion. He was a diehard Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns fan! His love for sports carried on through his kids. He was their biggest, and loudest, fan never missing a game. He leaves behind his loving grandmother, Lexie Liles; grandfather, Verlyn Smith; aunts and uncles, Carolyn Liles and Russell Shoulders; Barbara Liles; Fred and Jo Threatt; Todd and Judy Liles, Roger and Jimmie Lou Smith; and Johnny and Tina Trotter; nieces and nephew Darian, Logan, and Chandler Smith, along with numerous cousins and friends. Visitation was Friday, October 10, 6-8 pm, at Laurel Oaks Funeral Home in Mesquite. Funeral Services were held Saturday, October 11, at 10 am at Fellowship Baptist Forney, followed by Graveside Services at Laurel Oaks Cemetery, Lynn’s final resting place. He was escor ted by “Steven” Lynn Smith, III, Caleb Smith, Chuck Davis, Todd Liles, Jeff Liles, Mike Liles, Scott Liles and Greg Liles. Honorary pallbearers were Logan Smith and Mason Liles.
