Glenn Claxton

Glenn Claxton, of Forney, passed away October 29, 2013 surrounded by family. He was born May 1, 1926 in Dallas, TX to Otto and Nina (Travis) Claxton both of whom preceded him in death along with his son, Ronnie Claxton. Glenn was an owner of drive in grocer y stores where he met and made many friends. He was a proud combat veteran having served in the US Army in WWII at the Battle of the Bulge. He enjoyed spending time with family and when not with them, he was working with wood creating one-of-a-kind designs. His ser vice to others was exemplified by his first and foremost service to the Lord, and he was a past deacon of New Prospect Baptist Church in Deadwood. He held a long and active membership with First Baptist Church of Forney where he taught Sunday School and participated in many other activities. Glenn will be remembered for his strong character and quiet strength by all who were privileged to know him. Glenn is sur vived by his wife of 30 years, Connie Claxton of Forney; children: Mike Claxton and wife, Jan, of Carthage, TX; Mark of Mesquite, and Dale of Marietta, CA; grandchildren: Matt and wife, Billie; Kelly and husband, Jimmy; Luke, Campbell and Ian; great grandchildren: Layne, Baylee, Jax, Cloe, Sloan; brother, David; sister-in-law, Faye, of Hawkins, TX; uncle and aunt, Tommy and Arliss of Golden, CO as well as several extended family and a host of friends. Funeral ser vice was held at 11 a.m., Friday, November 1, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Forney with interment at Hillcrest Cemetery.
