The angelic hosts came for Carolyn Varley to take her to be with her Lord on December 18, 2013 following a courageous four year battle with acute leukemia. She was 72 years of age. Carolyn was born in Rockdale, Texas to parents John and Juanita (Jones) Westbrook on February 22, 1941. Both her parents preceded her in death. She married Dan Gilbreath in March of 1956, and he preceded her in death in 2010. Dan was the father of her children. Carolyn was employed in the Freestone County Tax Office for 32 years, and served as the Freestone County Tax Assessor/Collector from 1992 until her retirement in July 2007. She enjoyed her work with the county tremendously. After her retirement, she moved to Forney, Texas and lived with her daughter. She and Jeannette were best of friends and had some wonderful years together. She became an active member of First Baptist Church, Forney and developed some meaningful friendships with many people. Carolyn is sur vived Obituaries by her son Russell Gilbreath and his wife Rose of Fair field, Texas and her daughter Jeannette Pritchard and her husband Jim of Forney, Texas. She also leaves grandchildren Jasmine and Pressly Bonner, Jessica and Matt Burk, Jordan and Greg Jackson, Jaelan Gilbreath, James and Kim Pritchard, John Pritchard, and Julie and Taylor Franks. Her great grandchildren are Aaron Bonner, Christopher and Clara Burk, Elleri Jackson, Judah, Jolie, and Josiah Pritchard. Her brother, Gary Westbrook lives in San Antonio, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund of the First Baptist Church of Forney.
