Forney’s first radio station goes live

By CARY GRIFFIN

Although Wil Riggs occupies only one chair, he seems to be perpetually in motion. Wearing a set of wireless earphones and holding a microphone, he flits between two large computer monitors in the tiny studio of KFNY—Forney’s first radio station—as he works to finish his morning show. Station KFNY, which streams over the Internet, went live Dec. 5 in the rear of the Guest and Gray building in downtown Forney, just under a year after its beginning on Dec. 7, 2015— “the day that shall live in infamy,” Riggs remarked, with a hint of humorous irony. The station delivers a mix of country music and chatter 24/7, punctuated with short takes on local traffic and the weather.
